As checked on 15 September 2026, Penguin’s series page lists these five books. The order is shown below. This is a list of this particular series, not every novel Richard Osman has written.

Why begin at the beginning?
With an ongoing cast, solving the immediate mystery is only part of the pleasure. Earlier books introduce relationships, habits and references that later instalments can take for granted. Starting at book one means you can decide whether you enjoy spending time with these characters before committing to several more volumes.
Already received a later book?
You do not have to discard a gift or rush to buy a boxed set. Decide how much continuity matters to you. If you dislike learning future developments before their setup, borrow the opening book first. If the gift is for somebody else, a discreet question about which titles they own is more useful than assuming the newest release must be the best choice.
Do not confuse the author with the series
We Solve Murders belongs to a separate Richard Osman series. It should not be inserted into this sequence simply because the author’s name is the same. When browsing search results, compare the series name and subtitle as well as the cover. Collections and different editions can make a shelf look longer than the actual sequence.
Choosing a format
For print, check whether you prefer paperback or hardback and whether a large-print edition is available. For audio, sample the specific recording rather than assuming that every instalment has the same listening experience. Edition publication dates can differ from a book’s original release, so use the series order—not the newest date on a retail listing—to decide what comes next.
